Bob has a professional Architectural degree from Virginia Tech and he oversees all Contract Document production and is the principal Architect of Record for Horton, Harley & Carter, Inc. Bob is a registered professional with over 37 years of Architectural experience on many types of projects from schools to condominiums/high-end private residences, office buildings and shopping centers to industrial facilities.
Bob has an incredible work ethic and provides overall architectural leadership and code compliance responsibility on multiple projects at any given time.

Over the past 38 years, Bob Carter’s experience encompasses Office, Commercial, Retail, Educational, Residential and Industrial Buildings. Bob’s experience on a variety of projects during his career is extremely important to Horton, Harley & Carter, Inc. as the primary Design Professional for Architectural Services. Bob’s personality, background and training are all part of what makes Bob a technically proficient, organized and respected Architect. A Client recently told another Principal that when they need to know the real answer to a Code or Building question, regardless of whose project it is, Bob Carter is who they call to get the straight answer. Bob provides solutions and is highly efficient at getting them done. As a founding Principal of Horton, Harley & Carter, Inc. in 1996, Bob actively oversees Architectural Document production. He also helps administer in-house training and continuing education, as well as managing the HHC overall CAD and computer Network systems. Working through the specifics for each client and each project is what Bob does well.
