Steve Horton has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of South Florida, and is the managing principal for Horton, Harley & Carter, Inc. Steve is responsible for the business aspects of the firm, and applies his architectural skills and experience from design through contract administration.
Steve has over 33 years of Architectural experience on a variety of projects, for end-users and developers.
Steve’s experience totals over 30 million sq. ft. of buildings constructed throughout the southeast United States, and he has done international consulting work in France, Mexico and Brazil.

During the past thirty-three plus years, Steve’s experience encompasses many millions of square feet of buildings, from a Single-User 1.5 Million SF Distribution Center to award winning, Class ‘A’ Suburban Office Buildings, and many other sizes, varieties and combinations in-between. Steve has had the good fortune of tremendous opportunities to work with some of the best developers during a very prolific period of real estate development. Additionally, User-direct work and extensive Design-Build opportunities have provided a well-rounded commercial development experience set. Steve’s overall experience set has provided him with the ability to listen and observe, and then assist others with creative solutions, while maintaining cost and constructability perspectives. Identifying, respecting and working with talented people is a real key for our overall project success. It is from this foundation that Horton, Harley & Cater, Inc. was created to provide Professional Architectural Services in the the manner that we feel is best suited to our clients and their projects. As Managing Principal, Steve actively directs the overall direction of the firm, and the business/financial/architectural direction and administration. Steve is often involved in the preliminary architectural efforts for many projects, and remains active administratively through completion.
